I’m in Love with the Villainess #1-2 & Chillin’ in Another World #8

The Watashi no Oshi wa Akuyaku Reijou. -Revolution- series starts off as a pretty standard otome game parody. Only odd thing being that the male characters don’t show much interest in the heroine (who’s aggressively pursuing the villainess). That first book is pretty heavily focused toward comedy, which works more often than not, the second… the second however swerves into pretty serious social justice-tinged drama and romance territory (while keeping the same style of comedy as a subtheme). It’s an odd mix that never manages to feel like a coherent whole.

The eighth Lv 2 kara Cheat novel basically stays the course charted by the previous seven. Everyone’s pretty much just hanging out and having a good time with no noteworthy conflicts in sight. Only thing worth pointing out I suppose is that the series isn’t shy about spreading the power around; the protagonist’s allies are plenty overpowered themselves. Oh, and I guess it is a bit odd that the number of side characters with harems keeps increasing.

Not sure how long I’ll keep following it though, as both the Belano/Minilio and Garyl/queen relationships look like they’ll be getting greater focus in the future.
