Desperate for money and panning for gold in the wilderness, Saichi Sugimoto hears the tale of a hidden stockpile of Ainu treasure. With no better prospects he decides to try his luck at finding it, assisted by both his soldier’s training and a young Ainu girl he meets along the way.
A graphic, hunting-themed action series with frequent food-related scenes and an initially moderate level of comic relief which grows higher as the show progresses.

Just started watching the first OVA, which kicks ass from the literal get-go as an UNambiguous tribute to Kurosawa’s fantabulous movie, Yojimbo.
The “Golden” in the title just might refer to sniper Ogata‘s, seiyuu, who speaks with such divine tones that, were he reading original poetry by militant fat chicks at a coffeehouse (really, now, is that anyone’s idea of a good time?), I would eagerly attend.
Somehow, I’ve a hunch that that seiyuu is a man of few words. Why oh why??? Hearing his voice say, “Para español marque nueve.”, would make phone trees explode in popularity.
Hilarious! And a phantasmagoric ~orgy~ of violence, blood, and iconic character designs! Been a LONG tine since I’ve enjoyed anime this much!
Three satisfying series, with “Goldilocks-level” gore, garnished with fratricide, matricide, and patricide. Altogether a mesmerizing, limb-lopping, blood- and piss-spraying smackdown.
Rarely have urine, feces, and homoeroticism been juxtaposed so well with tragedy.
How refreshing! Tragedy in which no one makes the time to wallow. Hunter-gatherer societies don’t have that luxury–you know, post-industrial society’s sedentary, translucent-skinned, man-tittied kind of luxury.
A great circus of a show with plenty of action and no angst.
