The description for the finale of David North‘s Guardian of Aster Fall series is a bit misleading. The whole academy thing is just a trigger to get him involved with the high council and galaxy as a whole. As a result this book is really mostly about setting the stage for the author’s next series, which is not to say it doesn’t serve admirably as a conclusion; it does.
I picked up She of Many Dragons on whim about a month ago only to keep putting off reading it… and perhaps there was some kind of subliminal warning there because I ended up having to drop it about a quarter of the way through. It starts off well enough only to first stumble when her ‘friend’ inexplicably discovers her dragon aspect. I almost gave up right there but decided to push through. Not long after however that scene nearly repeats itself when a random thief does the same while somehow infiltrating a high-class hotel. Just… no.
