Adrift at sea a lone man eventually washes up upon an abandoned shore lined by dense forest. Pushing his way through to the top of a small mountain, he discovers himself stranded upon an island.
A survival drama with no dialog and a bit of mystery which transforms into a romance partway through.

Good thing they didn’t call this La Tortue Verte. This sounded good until I realized it was Ghibli. Eew.

Man is born. He suffers. He dies. There is only one story, the beauty and variety of which lie in myriad details. Nature is nothing if not miraculous, rhythmic, and transcendent, especially at the seashore. The mystery presented here, despite much deus ex machina, makes powerful spiritual sense. I found the ending reassuring and deeply satisfying. This movie leaves a great aftertaste. I checked the progress bar many times, especially during the second half, and wondered when the show would end. The fault lies entirely with my intractable, noisy mind.
