To my great surprise Lever Action turned out to be a perfectly normal fantasy/mecha-infused western. Unlike RavensDagger‘s other books I’ve read, there’s practically no comedy here and events are solidly grounded.
I can see why some people might think Macronomicon is a Brandon Sanderson alt; the massive output, the style of character banter, and technically-inclined world building all have parallels. Their first Industrial Strength Magic novel is a post-apocalyptic urban fantasy action-comedy with some relatively subtle romance aspects that look to be developing into a polyamorous love triangle. Both the complex setting and occasionally caustic character interactions are particular stand-outs, and I’m definitely looking forward to continuing the series.
