Omae wa Mada Gunma o Shiranai

Having just moved from Chiba to Gunma, Nori Kamitsuki is initially excited at the opportunity to reunite with an old friend. Excitement however quickly turns to dread as Gunma’s dark miasma overwhelms him, evolving into horror the next day when he finds himself accused of being a spy for the neighboring prefectures!

A comedic advertisement for Gunma Prefecture which concludes each episode with a brief live action segment.

Having watched 6 of 12 eps from start to finish, never skipping a thing, countless times, this series had me wishing I could wolf-whistle.Haven’t dug an anime this much since Hyouge Mono (for completely unrelated reasons). (Haven’t typed any html in years and years; let’s see if that link syntax works).

This series will probably appeal (like none other!) ONLY to local kids from places where being local carries *** INORDINATE *** cachet.

Finished this and loved it ’til the end, although I’m pretty sure few others will feel the same. Ep 11 was the best. The whole ‘local thugs’ theme mostly petered out. Part of the reason I loved it was that it reminded me of my visit to Nagano ten years ago–the same cozy landlocked vibe, deadly mountain roads, and giant flying extraterrestrial bat people.

It’ll be a long long long time before another series I love this much comes along.
