Maou to Yuusha no Tatakai no Ura de (English subtitle: RUNNING THE KINGDOM BEHIND THE SCENES) is a ‘reincarnated into a game world’ sort of series like Shujinkou ja Nai, except that it doesn’t actually have much focus on game mechanics. Apart from occasional references to a class or skill the setting is a pretty normal fantasy world. Other differences would be that the game protagonist is present and the novel protagonist is a formerly faceless noble rather than a notable NPC.
So far it’s an entertaining (relatively) ‘strategic genius’ type of story with a small hint of future romance… which looks like it’ll handily avoid the harem trap since the game protagonist is the target of most girls’ interest.
The second Yami Healer novel is a seamless continuation of the first. You get a bit of a look at the ‘proper’ healers this volume, some rather large hints as to the wraith’s backstory, and our protagonist resolves everything solely through his healing powers without having to fall back on the questionable combat abilities showcased in the previous novel’s climax. A perfectly solid showing all around.
