The Kasei Madoushi no Isekai Seikatsu series (English subtitle: Making Your Adventures Feel Like Home!) is an isekai romance featuring a protagonist lacking any world-breaking advantages. She is in fact at quite the disadvantage in many ways (the one exception being magical control, similar to Shinja Zero no Megami-sama‘s protagonist).
The books balance themselves between the mostly light-hearted present day relationship between the two leads and more serious flashbacks to their pasts… which can delve into some surprisingly heavy topics such as human trafficking and mental abuse. There is also of course quite a bit of ‘housekeeping magic’ on display, from the requisite cooking segments (and accompanying lectures on proper diets and flavor profiles) to the creation of baths and sleeping arrangements.
All-in-all a pretty solid series I plan to keep following. Sadly, I can’t say the same for Fukushuu o Chikatta Shironeko wa Ryuuou no Hiza no Ue de Damin o Musaboru (English subtitle: as Plotted from the Dragon King’s Lap).
As a romance-framed overpowered protagonist isekai, it’s as carefree and lighthearted as you might expect. The issue lies with said protagonist. Being both an airhead and something of a doormat besides she’ll occasionally make decisions that come across as face-palmingly idiotic. Not helping matters is that while she’s supposedly just started college, she reacts more like a middle-schooler.
The end result ends up infuriating just a bit too often to continue reading.
